What is YouthBuild?
It is Education:
CTI YouthBuild is a program for young adults between the ages of 17 and 24 who have dropped out of school. YouthBuild offers GED preparation classes that provides over 1,200 hours of classroom instruction from highly qualified and experienced instructors. YouthBuild, funded in part by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), also provides students with important learning tools like critical thinking skills, small business management, economic literacy, and computer training in our state-of-the-art computer lab.

It is Job Training: All YouthBuild students learn carpentry and construction skills while they work together to create affordable housing in their community. The program has a partnership with the City of Lowell to build new homes for low-income families. In addition to the hands-on training YouthBuild students will have the opportunity to complete a comprehensive vocational curriculum leading to a certificate that will be valuable to graduates who want to enter the construction trades as a career. Students participate in job readiness and life skills courses with case management that will help them start their careers with a solid set of interpersonal and self-management skills that are increasingly necessary in today's job market.

It is Leadership Development: One of the most important parts of the YouthBuild program is Leadership Development. By building affordable housing, participating in other community service projects, building awareness of issues that affect the trainees and their community and by setting and achieving goals, students will graduate the program with the skills that will build their self-confidence and enable them to become leaders within their community. Leadership development opportunities are built into each program component. Students also have the opportunity to participate on the Policy Committee where issues regarding program and policy decisions are made.
