The
role of the property owner in the Rental Assistance Program is to
provide decent, safe, and sanitary housing to a tenant at a reasonable
rent. Housing inspectors, trained by the Massachusetts Department
of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) in Housing Quality Inspection
Standards, perform yearly inspections to insure units are kept in
compliance. Owners are required to make necessary repairs to bring
the unit back into HCQ compliance should must maintain the unit
up to those same quality standards as long as he/she receives housing
assistance payments. Over 800 area property owners participate in
CTI's rental assistance programs.
